Computer Science

The work of computer scientists is essential to virtually every human endeavor. Organizations from Microsoft and Apple to the U.S. Government are seeking programming whizzes, software gurus, and information architects to create even better, faster, smarter technologies. And there’s no better place to get ready for life on the cutting edge than Kettering. Small classes, state-of-the-art labs, co-op and experiential learning opportunities that start in your first year— it’s no surprise that U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks us as one of the nation’s top programs.

Get in the Lab

Our state-of-the-art computing labs are open 24/7.

See our labs in action

The PCs and workstations run powerful integrated development environments (IDEs) that will assist you in developing object-oriented program
solutions.

  • Our Computer Networks Lab is where you can experiment with network design and build a miniature version of the Internet.
  • In the Computer and Network Security Lab, you can experiment with computer viruses and virus detection, or be a member of a “tiger team” that probes and attacks the security of a modern operating system.
  • Our Computer System Lab is where you’ll learn how to write system software modules for the Linux operating system. You’ll get hands-on access to the systems that have always been off limits to you!
  • In our Microcomputers I and II Labs, you’ll study programming for embedded computer systems at the assembly code level. You’ll create fast, streamlined programs and develop powerful interrupt-driven systems.
