The Dean
Welcome to the College of Sciences and Liberal Arts [CSLA] at Kettering University! It is my privilege to represent the more than 80 student-centered faculty and staff who work in the four departments of this dynamic college.
The CSLA offers science degrees that combine classroom study and experiential learning in research or cooperative education. This integration of theory and practice allows students to explore their interests, discover exciting new areas of study, and satisfy their curiosity in computer science, mathematics, and natural sciences. The college also offers minors in rich fields of study like economics, history, international studies, pre-med, and literature.
All Kettering students take foundational courses in the CSLA to prepare them for successful careers in fields that address the intellectual and practical aspects of addressing complex global challenges through innovative solutions. Students learn essential skills like critical thinking and reasoning, writing, and speaking through courses in the sciences, mathematics, communications, the humanities, the social sciences, history, literature, leadership, and ethics. These courses also prepare students to succeed in diverse work environments and to become socially conscious professionals.
I look forward to welcoming you to Kettering. You will join a community of teachers and students who will instruct, mentor, and support you so you can become Kettering Built: a well-educated professional who is prepared for extraordinary leadership and service.
Warm regards,
Dr. Kathryn Svinarich
