Marsha Bewersdorf, Kettering University Vice President of Administration and Finance

After an extensive nationwide search, Kettering University has selected Marsha Bewersdorf as its new Vice President of Administration and Finance, University President Dr. Robert K. McMahan announced today. Bewersdorf’s appointment is effective June 15.

Bewersdorf comes to Kettering from Union College in Schenectady, New York, where she was Associate Vice President for Finance. In her role at Union College, a national Top 50 liberal arts college, she led the Department of Financial Planning and Analysis. She proved successful in improving performance and enhancing the capabilities of the accounting and finance teams through a comprehensive restructuring, ensuring administrative and operational processes could support and enable the goal of strengthening the vibrant community of learners, scholars and teachers.

“I am delighted to welcome Marsha to the University and look forward to the talent and expertise she brings,” McMahan said. “She has a proven track record as a tactical problem solver rooted in sound fiscal management and operational strategies. Her leadership and higher education experience will significantly add to and enhance the capabilities of our leadership team.”

Kettering University is not new to Bewersdorf. Her son (Reed Lubbers ’16) attended Kettering, boosting her interest in the University and its unique educational model. She is excited to serve in a long-term leadership role, empowering her team to excel.

In a career spanning almost 30 years, Bewersdorf has helped organizations achieve exceptional operational performance by aligning finance with the overall strategy and developing best practices for finance and administrative operations. She has served as interim CFO and in consulting-based roles for several private higher education institutions. 

Bewersdorf earned an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She also holds a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education. In addition, Bewersdorf is an active CPA in the state of Florida.
