Louanne Allison Biography

Louanne Allison '82

Louanne Allison completed a 30-year career at General Motors in various sales, service,
marketing and planning roles at GMC Truck, GM Truck Group and Competitor Intelligence. She
currently is an insurance agent focusing on those retiring and transitioning to Medicare. She has
partnered with former Kettering/GMI Board member Rod Kirkham this year to offer Medicare
options to GMI and Kettering Alumni that are aging into Medicare.

Louanne is proud to have served Kettering University in multiple volunteer roles. She served on
the Alumni Board for the last seven years in various capacities, including Vice President,
Treasurer, Alumni Involvement and Events Chairman, and Executive Committee Member.
She served several years as Leader of the SE Michigan Alumni Network, working on events,
communications and coordination with Kettering University. When Dr. Laura Sullivan created
the Lives Improved Through Engineering and Science (LITES) program, Louanne served on the
first eight-female alumni panels, helping high school girls on campus decide if Kettering was
right for them.

Some of the initiatives started during Louanne’s time on the Alumni Board include Connections
Week and sponsorships for FIRST Robotics teams. She also helped update the bylaws and
create training to transition new board members to their positions.
Her recruitment efforts for the Alumni Board have ensured alumni diversity in age, year of
graduation and location. Louanne’s daughter, Amy Allison MacDonald ’15, currently serves on
the Alumni Board. Louanne and Amy created an annual lunch event at Kettering in which each
section of Seniors is introduced to being an alum and encouraged to stay connected through
volunteering.

Most recently, Louanne worked with fellow Class of ’82 alumni Noel Glab and Virginia Gilmour
and the University Alumni Engagement office to create a 40-year class reunion this past
summer. The event was a great success, with the group touring the new Learning Commons.

Louanne earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Administration from GMI, a Master’s degree
in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Master’s degree in Strategic
Management from Indiana University. At American College, she also studied to become a
Financial Services Certified Professional.
