Kettering University Named Among 2027 Best 392 Colleges by The Princeton Review
Kettering University has been named one of The Princeton Review’s 2027 Best 392 Colleges, placing the University among a select group of institutions recognized nationally for academic excellence and considered worthy of prospective students’ attention.
The recognition reflects the national reach of a Kettering education. Students come to the University from across the country, while Kettering’s network of Co-op employer partners extends that footprint even further, connecting students with professional experiences in industries and communities nationwide.
At the center of that experience is Kettering’s industry-embedded educational model, where students alternate between 12-week academic and Co-op terms. Over the past five years, more than 600 employers across the United States have partnered with Kettering, giving students opportunities to apply what they learn and take on meaningful responsibility in the workplace. By graduation, students have accumulated as much as two and a half years of professional experience, and 98 percent are employed or enrolled in graduate school six months after earning their degree.
"Kettering did not bolt professional experience onto a curriculum. The University was built around it,” said University President Dr. Robert K. McMahan. “Students alternate between classroom and professional practice from the first year, and the two continuously inform each other. They graduate with two and a half years of professional experience behind them, and they enter the workforce not as novices, but as contributors who have already been accountable for real work.”
The Princeton Review describes the colleges selected for its regional lists as schools it considers “academically outstanding and well worth consideration” in the college search. The 2027 recognition includes colleges in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, South, Southwest, West, and internationally.
Kettering’s inclusion among the Best 392 Colleges reinforces the University’s distinctive approach to preparing students for careers in engineering, technology, business, and other high-demand fields. Through its nationally recognized Co-op program, students build professional experience, industry relationships, and problem-solving skills alongside their academic education.
The recognition also adds to the national attention Kettering has received for its approach to career preparation and graduate outcomes. For more than a century, the University has integrated classroom learning with professional practice, giving students repeated opportunities to apply knowledge, take on increasingly complex responsibilities, and develop the judgment required to contribute effectively in the workplace.
