Ron Tackett

Head of the School of Foundational Studies and Associate Professor of Physics

Ronald J. Tackett started at Kettering in 2014. His broad research interests are in the areas of materials for the next generation of spin-enhanced electronics (spintronics) as well as pedagogy, curriculum, and student learning. Current projects focus on both the theoretical understanding of spin dynamics in solid-state systems and the application of these techniques to developing spintronic materials and devices. He is also passionate about advancing student engagement and access to education in the physical sciences.

Thoughts on Kettering

Most memorable experience: Watching how quickly Kettering students mature compared to those at other universities he has taught at.

How students inspire him: Their drive is unmatched; he would put the top Kettering students up against the top students at any other university in the nation.

What he has learned from students: That the future is bright!
