John Grether

Professor of Practice

John Grether started at Kettering in 2019 with 25 years of experience in higher education teaching and
administration, and 15 years of experience founding and operating entrepreneurial ventures. His broad
research interests are in the areas of entrepreneurship and corporate governance, regulation and
compliance, primarily through the lens of new institutional law and economics. Current projects focus
on entrepreneurial ecosystem development and its propagation within emerging economies. He is also
passionate about helping young people develop into authentic learners who regularly integrate
theoretical understanding into their lives outside of school.

In addition, John is the faculty advisor for Kettering University Collegiate DECA and co-advisor of the Nu
Chi chapter of Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.

John believes that Kettering University students demonstrate degrees of personal drive, fearlessness, and resilience rarely
matched by students at other universities; here, the exceptional student is standard.
