Lecturer of Applied Mathematics

Mr. Hennicken feels people all learn in different ways and at different speeds. He believes that trying to teach to the students’ strengths is essential. He provides many worked-through examples in class if they learn best from observing. However, if they learn best through application, he may try to shorten the lecture and ensure the class gets an opportunity to work through problems, especially while he is available to assist.

Also, he tries to provide as much aid and as many resources as possible all semester long. That being said, there is student responsibility as well. The student must be willing to put in effort. Regardless of student cooperation and effort, Mr. Hennicken never stops encouraging students and offering the best education he can deliver. He always encourages questions. Mr. Hennicken believes simply formulating a question and knowing what it is you need to ask indicates a level of comprehension. Sometimes a student cannot learn something until they question the material and work it out. He firmly believes that people learn better when connecting the new material and skills with previously mastered knowledge.
