Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

Asanga Manamperi started at Kettering in June 2022. His broad research interests are in the areas of Biobased Materials and Biofuels. Current projects focus on developing chitosan-based metal-organic composites and exploring the recyclability and mechanical property retention of synthetic and biobased polymers. He is also passionate about advancing undergraduate and graduate-level teaching in the areas of materials science and engineering. Asanga is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, and he serves as the Faculty Advisor for the student chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE - Detroit section).
