Kettering University has reached an agreement in principle with Sweet Briar College on an expedited transfer arrangement that would allow students pursuing science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and business degrees to transfer from Sweet Briar and complete their undergraduate studies at Kettering University for the fall 2015 semester.

Sweet Briar College, a private liberal arts college for women in Virginia, announced this week that it would cease operations in August of 2015.

“We were deeply saddened to learn of Sweet Briar College’s pending closure, and extend our sympathies to all of the students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents in the Sweet Briar College community,” said Dr. Robert K. McMahan, Kettering University President. “Kettering University is committed to making the transfer process as seamless as possible for any Sweet Briar College students interested in continuing their education at Kettering University.”

The teach-out agreement is pending approval by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Students interested in transferring from Sweet Briar College to Kettering should contact the Kettering University Office of Admissions at (810) 762-9938 for specific requirements.
