Robert L. Simpson

Dr. Robert L. Simpson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, began his tenure as the chief academic officer at Kettering University on Sept. 1, 2010. He previously had served as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kettering University during the 2006-2007 academic year. He earned a doctorate degree in Limnology at Cornell University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees at Fresno State College.

During Dr. Simpson’s distinguished career, he has been a professor of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, has served as provost at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, dean at William Paterson College and department chair and faculty member at Rider College. His research focuses on freshwater wetlands.

He has co-edited three books, Freshwater Wetlands: Ecological Processes and Management Potential, Ecology of Soil Seed Banks, and Seedling Ecology and Evolution and published numerous research articles. He served as president of the New Jersey Academic of Science and presently serves as a member of the Accreditation Review Council of the Higher Learning Commission.
