Faculty Research Funding
Established in fiscal year 2014, two new programs are now available for internal funding for faculty research initiatives.
Faculty Research Fellowship
This fund supports faculty research initiatives with high potential for external funding. Annually, up to four (4) fellowships of $6,000 may be awarded. The fellowship must be spent in the awarded Academic Year on salaries, supplies, student stipend, or minor equipment. Travel expenses are not allowed. As a result of the fellowship, at least one grant proposal must be prepared.
All members of the faculty are eligible to apply. An emphasis in the selection process will be restarting and/or redirecting current research efforts.
Faculty Research Grants-in-Aid
This fund supports purchase of minor equipment and start up supplies in support of faculty research initiatives with high potential for external funding. Annually, up to six (6) grants-in-aids of $1,500 may be awarded. The grants-in-aid must be spent in the awarded Academic Year.
All members of the faculty are eligible to apply. Department matching of the requested amount is encouraged. An emphasis in the selection process will be at restarting and/or redirecting research effort.
Applications to both programs shall include a project narrative (limit 3 pages) and a budget of proposed expenses. A call for proposals will be announced annually. Evaluation of project merit will be made by the Research Council Steering Committee. Their recommendations will be provided to the Provost for final approval. Notification of awards will be concurrent with the annual Researcher Awards. Research for enhancing the knowledge and improvements in the area of education and teaching should be directed to CETL rather than to these programs.
