Karilyn Perry comes from a legacy Kettering family and has dedicated her most recent career and life to philanthropic causes, helping to raise funds and donations to her favorite organizations. Since leaving the corporate world, Karilyn has been actively involved in her community, her church, and educational endeavors all while serving on a number of non-profit boards.
She is a Founding Trustee of Pacific Ridge School, a new 7th-12th grade independent school located in Carlsbad, California. Pacific Ridge School opened its doors in 2007 to just over 100 students, and has since graduated three classes and grown to more than 500 students attending this fall. The mission of Pacific Ridge School is centered on the tenets of academic excellence, ethical responsibility, global engagement and pursuit of a purposeful life. In the past 12 years, Perry has served as a Founding Trustee of the School, Chairman of their Development Committee and Director of Philanthropy. In her roles, she has been instrumental in raising over $60 million to found and build the school.
Perry graduated in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. She was awarded an Alumni Travelship assignment, allowing her to work in Germany and France for General Motors. In 1985 she earned a master’s degree in management from M.I.T.’s Sloan School of Management. Perry held various international marketing and sales management positions with Hewlett Packard’s Medical Products Group until 1993 when she joined Pyxis Corporation as Vice President of Marketing. Within one year she assumed the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Pyxis.
Perry just celebrated her 30th anniversary with her husband Michael Perry, also a 1983 Kettering graduate. They met in Dr. David Green’s Differential Equations class as students at GMI and were married the day after graduation. Mike went on to receive his MBA from Harvard Business School and is currently the CEO of Crisi Medical. The Perry’s live in Rancho Santa Fe, California, with daughters Kati and Kirstyn.
