Kettering students are state champs

Kettering may not have a football team, but that doesn't mean students aren't competitive. In fact, they recently brought home 15 awards from a statewide competition.

A team of 11 students from Kettering University's Delta Epsilon Chi (DEC) chapters for both A and B sections earned 15 awards at the State Career Development Conference at Lansing, Mich., Feb. 9 to 11. They competed against seven college and university chapters from across the state.

The Kettering team captured four first place awards, four second place awards, three third place awards and four honorable mentions. Competition events included exams, solving case study problems and role-playing with industry judges. All 25 members of Kettering's DEC two chapters qualified to compete in the National Delta Epsilon Chi Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla., April 21 to 24.

Chris Brolick, of West Olive, Mich., an A-section senior, for E-commerce Decision Making
Tyler Finnegan, of Elyria, Ohio, a B-section sophomore, for Restaurant and Food Service Marketing Management
Stacy Pryjmak, of Harrison Twp., Mich., a B-section senior, for Executive Job Interview
Eliza Squires, of Monson, Mass., an A-section senior, for Entrepreneurship

Earning second place awards were:
Reisha Ivory, of Flint, Mich., an A-Section sophomore, for Entrepreneurship
Stacy Pryjmak, for the Business Law team event
Kristen Winters, of Alpena, Mich., a B-section junior, for the Business Law team event
Eliza Squires, for Travel and Tourism Marketing Management
Richie Vemaganti, of Carmel, Ind., an A-section senior, for Marketing Management

Earning third place awards were:
Tyler Finnegan, for Human Resource Management Decision Making
Reisha Ivory, for Marketing Management
Kristen Winters, for Retail Management

Earning honorable mention were:

Mark St.Amour, of Milford, Mich., an A-section senior, for Financial Services Marketing Management
Chris Quinn, of Gastonia, N. Carolina, an A-section senior, for Financial Services Marketing Management

Matthew Kreski, of Maryland Heights, Mo., an A-section junior, for Restaurant and Food Service Marketing Management

Bhavin Shah, of Farmington Hills, Mich., a B-section senior, for Travel and Tourism Marketing Management

Delta Epsilon Chi is a student organization focused on developing future business leaders. The Kettering A and B section chapters are sponsored by the Department of Business. The four cornerstones of DEC are career awareness, civic consciousness, social intelligence, and leadership development. In addition to the yearly state and international career development conferences in the spring, DEC also sponsors a yearly leadership conference in the fall.
