Celebrate Kettering attracted 600 participants to a series of festive events on campus in honor of the inauguration of President Robert K. McMahan.

Kettering University inaugurated its seventh president, Dr. Robert K. McMahan, Friday, April 20 at a day-long Celebrate Kettering event. The celebration attracted 600 participants including alumni, corporate partners, parents of students, friends of the University, city, state and national dignitaries and the Kettering Community.
The day kicked off with a luncheon featuring Mary T. Barra ’85, GM senior vice president of Global Product Development, as keynote speaker. Barra spoke about the value of a Kettering education and skill requirements for global business. During her address she presented President McMahan with a 2011 Chevrolet Impala for use by Campus Safety.
Following the luncheon, hundreds toured a faculty and students research expo that showcased current projects.
At the 4 p.m. ceremony the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Charles F. Kettering III installed Dr. McMahan as the seventh president of the institution and presented him with the Kettering Presidential Medallion.
