Gary Cowger to receive Distinguished Alumni Award

Gary Cowger '70, president of General Motors North America, will be given the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Detroit Chapter of the Kettering/GMI Alumni Association at their 38th annual dinner, Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Southfield Manor in Southfield.

Gary Cowger '70, president of General Motors North America, will be given the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Detroit Chapter of the Kettering/GMI Alumni Association at their 38th annual dinner, Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Southfield Manor in Southfield. Presenting the award will be Joseph Spielman '68, vice president, general manager of General Motors Metal Fab Division and Manufacturing Centers.

Herb Fishel, executive director of General Motors Racing, will provide the keynote address, and the Bob Wolforth Memorial Scholarship recipients will be announced at the dinner. Bob Wolforth '58, was past president of the Alumni Association. Three $1,000 scholarships are given in his name every year to a sophomore, junior and senior that either lives or works in the Detroit area.

In addition, GM Racing will be displaying a 1,000 horse power, front-wheel drive Cavalier at the event. Also on display will be SAE vehicles from Kettering University, with students involved in SAE competitions available to answer questions.
