Kettering University open house set for Aug. 8

Kettering University has the faculty, the labs, and the programs to bring theory and practice together in engineering, business, math, science and technology and will showcase those features Saturday, Aug. 8, at an open house called Discover Kettering from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Discover Kettering is a great way to experience the scope and depth of the Kettering learning structure and to more fully understand how Kettering’s innovative approach produces innovative professionals,” said Frank Hribar, vice president for Enrollment Services.  “And Kettering is the only university in the country with a campus-wide lead in ‘Entrepreneurship Across the Curriculum.’”

Hribar said Kettering has some of the best engineering facilities available to undergraduates in the world.  “Our world-class faculty will be in their labs and classrooms, ready to talk with students and families who want to experience the campus and the spirit of the University.  You’ll have an opportunity to discuss Kettering’s renowned cooperative education format, it’s relevant majors, minors and concentrations, such as chemical engineering, computer gaming and aerospace engineering.  Kettering’s new Pre-Med program will be featured, too,” he added.

Refreshments start at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Welcome to all participants at 10 a.m. Guests attending Discover Kettering will see Kettering’s Crash Safety Center, the Fuel Cell Center, and labs in acoustics, lasers and a wind tunnel.

Prospective students and their families will have a chance to meet current faculty and students, tour campus facilities and find out more about the Kettering advantage of a real-world education coupled with real-world job experience. A highlight of the day will be an Academic Expo from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  A separate Kettering University Expo from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. will allow families to learn more about student life, including the residence hall and recreation center, and how Flint is turning into a College Town with new opportunities for students.

Students can meet with admissions, co-op and financial aid representatives.  A panel of current Kettering students will tell stories about their class and job experiences.  A special session is offered for transfer students.

Although Discover Kettering is an open house, registration for the program is preferred by calling (800) 955-4464, ext. 7865, or visit: http://admissions.kettering.edu/visit/
