December 2011 Commencement ceremonies were the first presided by President Robert K. McMahan and featured a Commencement address by Trustee Henio Arcangeli '86.

Kettering University's December 2011 Commencement was the first graduation celebrated by President Robert K. McMahan. He charged the 270 graduates to use their Kettering education to make lives better for themselves and those around them. "Kettering is yours for the rest of your life. You now rank among the most successful and impactful alumni of any institution in the United States," he said.

McMahan presided over ceremonies that included a Commencement address by Henio Arcangeli ’86, President of Motorsports Group Company, Yamaha Motor Corp., USA. Jozsef Benyi, of Qatar, was the undergraduate student speaker.

Kettering graduated 217 undergraduates and 52 master’s candidates during graduation services. Dr. Laura Sullivan, Faculty Senate moderator, was the chief grand marshal.

In total, Kettering has awarded 31,783 bachelor's and 4,053 master's graduates.
