Distinguished Faculty Speaker Series:  Dr. Jeffrey Hargrove from Mechanical Engineering presents Current Understandings and Research in Treating Chronic Central Pain

Chronic pain is a global healthcare crisis, yet current treatment modalities often fail to achieve relief because of uncertain diagnoses, a lack of effective treatments, and inadequate patient and clinician knowledge about the best ways to manage pain.  However, recent research in neural network connectivity and pain processing in the brain is revealing central mechanisms that may lead to promising new diagnostic and treatment strategies for chronic pain.  Dr. Jeff Hargrove of the Mechanical Engineering Department will discuss centralized chronic pain, the current state of knowledge in the field, and his clinical research on neuromodulatory approaches to pain management.

All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend, and lunch will be served to the first 100 people.
