Alumni Ambassadors

Partnering with the Alumni Association, Kettering is focused on more effectively engaging alumni across the country through the Ambassador program.

The Alumni Admissions Ambassador program is recruiting alumni in geographical regions around the United States who will meet with potential students at college fairs, high schools, trade shows, and events to talk about the value and benefits of a Kettering education.

Another goal is to create new alumni networks in addition to the strong groups already in place. Kettering has strong alumni network in Southeast Michigan and the Bay Area in California, but alumni are everywhere. Kettering hopes to grow the alumni networks in Chicago, northeast Ohio, Houston, and Southwest Michigan, among others.

Another benefit of the program is involving younger alumni who want to give back to their alma mater.

"Attending Kettering is probably the best choice I ever made. It saved me a lot of suffering with the ability to work in my field and and check that its right for me before getting all the way through my degree. Even after my time at KU, that attitude served me well; I considered pursuing pharmacy, but after working as a pharmacy technician, realized I wouldn't be happy in that environment. Beyond the practical experiences, Kettering was my gateway to some of the most important relationships in my life. I'm still close to many of my professors and my classmates. Through community volunteering with the Flint Children's Museum, I met my husband for the first time. The small classes and diverse interests of the student body helped us all find our niche and get some leadership experience in extracurricular clubs, societies and Greek Life. For years, I've encouraged my coworkers to consider Kettering as their kids reached college age and now I am excited to be bringing that advocacy to a wider audience through the official Alumni Ambassador program."

Share The Story / Refer A Future Bulldog

Share the Kettering story, share your personal Kettering experience and connect talented students you know to your alma mater.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face interaction is a limited, if not completely unavailable option for student recruitment. Without the ability to have typical high school visits or attend college fairs, there are fewer opportunities to reach students outside of the virtual world. As part of the Ambassador Program, we have created a new campaign to increase Kettering University’s overall prospective student inquiries.

Refer students in your network to visit kettering.edu/referred to fill out an interest form so we can keep them up-to-date on admissions and scholarship opportunities and learn more about all that Kettering University has to offer. Be sure to tell them to include your name as a reference.

Alumni Ambassador - Marisa Richardson

"I hope my story will inspire others who aren’t sure if Kettering is right for them. I know what it's like to face barriers—as a Flint native, as the first person in my family to go to college, and as a woman in a male-dominated industry. My Kettering education, study-abroad experience, and friendships have changed my life and opened doors I might never have tried. I’m grateful for the support I had along the way, and now I’d like to pay it forward. It’s an honor to serve as an alumni ambassador and encourage the next generation of Kettering Built. Engaging with our exceptional students always inspires me to volunteer more!"
