Schedule for Summer Term of 2001 (A-section)
- Every Wednesday at 12:15 - Planning meeting in Sunrise Cafeteria (bring your lunch or buy it there)
- 3rd Friday - Sci Fi Movie Night - 8:00pm, room 1-817 "The Planet of the Apes"
- 4th Wednesday - 3:30pm - Tour/visit of Children's Museum to get ideas for a project involving designing, building and donating a physics exhibit to the museum. This term we'll come up with the idea and write a proposal to SPS national headquarters applying for a Marshal White Award. If we get the award, we'll build it and donate it during Winter 2002 term. You can also go through the Museum on your own (just tell them you are with the Society of Physics Students). The museum is most interested in exhibits targeted towards 5-8 yr olds, especially about the "physics of water."
- 5th Week Friday - Sci Fi Movie Night - 9:00 pm, room 1-817 "2001: A Space Odyssey"
- 6th Week Wednesday - 1st Annual SPS "Battle for the Wheel" - bowling contest with other Kettering student societies.
Time & Place: 7:00pm at AMF Town and Country Lanes (G-3282 Miller Rd).
Cost: $5.00 per person (two games and shoes)
- 7th Thursday - Field Trip to Sherzer Observatory at Eastern Michigan University. Meet in the Great Court at 7:15pm (returning around midnight). We'll try to carpool in a couple of the University minivans. Please let Dr. Russell know if you plan on attending. Postponed twice because of bad weather
- 8th Week Friday - Sci Fi Movie Night - 9:00pm, room 1-817 "Contact"
- 9th Week Friday - Guest speaker = Alan Nathan "The Physics of Baseball" Probable time and location: Noon in 1-817 (with food). Postponed because of the Sept. 11 Terrorist Attacks
- 10th Week Saturday - SPS Picnic/cookout at Dr. Russell's House
- 12th Week Saturday - Zone 7 SPS meeting at UofM in Ann Arbor [we had six members attend!!!]
