Tang Soo Do is a hard style martial art, which means that we mainly use punching and kicking for self defense.

Basic Techniques. - Simple and effective, we practice our basics with marching almost every class. This helps the student
gain understanding of the dynamics of a motion such as a punch or kick and refine the technique through repetition.
One-Steps. - A formal exercise where a student can practice defending themselves against a specific attack in a controlled
manner, gaining self-confidence, control and timing.
Forms. - Called hyungs in korean, these are pre-determined sets of basic techniques which are combined to form a pattern
as if the performer of the form were defending themselves from many foes. An art in themselves the forms are easily learned
and somewhat dance-like in presentation. As the student progresses in ability the hyungs become more intricate and
challenging. Forms are a part of the martial art of Tang Soo Do which a student can easily practice almost anywhere on their own.
Sparring. - Sparring gives the student the chance to use all their techniques freely against single or multiple opponents. Self
Control is emphasized. Proper timing, position and methods of 'getting past' the defenses of an opponent are also practiced.
While padded helmets, gloves and boots are available a no contact rule is enforced.
'Ho Sin Sul'. - This activity teaches a student how to defend themselves from grabs, holds and locks. It also covers how to
deal with situations where it is necessary to defend yourself from an attack without causing permanent injury to your attacker and
use of pressure points.
Board Breaking. - A favorite activity of many student and spectators, breaking boards shows the student's prowess
with their techniques and helps them understand what effect their techniques can have on a target.
