| Pictured above is the belt system used by the Karate Club. Starting at White Belt or 10th Gup the student is promoted to 8th Gup Orange Belt usually at the end of their first term of study after taking a short test during which the student demonstrates skills required for the next rank. Eventually the student can be promoted from Gup (Ranks less than Black Belt) to Dan (Degree - pronounced like the nickname Don from Donald) or Black Belt Rank.
