IEEEThe cost is $30.00 per year, which is inexpensive compared to full membership. You can join IEEE Societies -- sub-groups within IEEE concerned with certain topics within the electrical, electronic, & computer engineering world -- at a large discount. These societies also come with their own magazines. Student membership dues of less than one hundred dollars can get benefits equal to full membership dues of nearly one thousand dollars!
The IEEE is the professional society for electrical and computer engineers. Their main magazine, Spectrum, is the place to look for jobs, particularly if you wish to teach electrical engineering.
The IEEE's magazines contain sophisticated discussion of practical and theoretical aspects of electrical and computer engineering. While some articles are readable and others are quite... difficult, the resources the IEEE provides are not to be laughed at. Many magazines even have online editions!

IEEE membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least 50% of a normal, full-time course of study in electrical, electronics or computer engineering or computer sciences, or in an allied branch of engineering, engineering technology or the related arts and sciences.
To join simply go to the ECE office and pick up an IEEE Student Membership application. Fill out the application and have it signed by Professor Wicks.
