Zach Goodman

Freshmen Class Representative

I was born in California and moved to Colorado when I was nine and I have lived there up until I graduated high school. Now I am here, at Kettering. In high school I was involved in cross country, swim team and Multi Cultural Alliance. I was also vice president of our chapter of the National Honor Society my senior year. So far, being at Kettering has been has been my experience of all. I love every part about it.

What activities are/were you involved in at Kettering and high school?

I was involved in swim team from freshman year through senior year. I was involved in cross country from junior through senior year. I have been in National Honor Society since freshman year and was vice president my senior year. My senior year I was member of Multi Cultural Alliance.

What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I want people to know me as reliable. I hold trustworthiness in the highest regard and I always keep my word.

What is your favorite quote/ saying?

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right.”

                                -Henry Ford

What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

Based on some conversations I have had with other students and some of my own personal experiences I can say that inconsistencies in the residence hall air conditioning and water temperature are a concern. I plan to attend the next meeting on Wednesday in hopes of seeing what I will be able to do with regards to this. As far as other things, I am open to the student body and will be taking all suggestions and inputs they have. Whatever they think needs improvement, needs improvement.

What has been you biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My greatest success would be the high school blood drive that National Honor Society hosted twice a year. We had our most successful drives during my time as vice president. From this I learned great communication skills and how to run a large event. My biggest failure would be when I failed to reach my goal of a twenty-one minute 5k in cross country. It was a goal I had from the beginning of the season and know now that if I had paced myself with my goals it would have been much more achievable.

What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

The students are my biggest motivation. Everyone has been supportive and tells me truthfully that I would do a good job. I want to be able to do something that will make these people’s live better here at Kettering. I only want to be on Student Senate if my fellow students want me to be, if they think that I am the best man for the job.
