Getting to Flint and Kettering University

Please note:

  • Third Avenue has recently been changed to University Avenue. When using GPS units and some mapping tools please be aware that they may not recognize University Avenue.
     
  • MDOT has announced reconstruction of the M-21/Corunna Road bridge from April 6 to approximately August 11. When using mapping tools please keep this reconstruction in mind. We encourage the use of the following temporary directions.

If you are driving to Flint heading . . .

East or West

  • Exit I-69 onto I-75/US-23 North and follow the North directions outlined below.

North

  • Exit I-75/US-23 onto Miller Road (Exit 117). This exit is immediately after the I-69 underpass.
  • Turn right (East) onto Miller Road and proceed to Ballenger Highway.
  • Turn left (North) onto Ballenger Highway; continue North to Sunset Boulevard (sixth traffic light); Sunset Boulevard is between McLaren Regional Medical Center and Mott Park Golf Course. Sunset Boulevard merges only to the right.
  • Turn right (East) onto Sunset Boulevard, which curves around and becomes University Avenue.
  • Follow University Avenue past the river to the first traffic light (Chevrolet Avenue); Kettering University’s Campus Center is on the right.
  • Turn right onto Chevrolet Avenue and right again into the circle drive in front of the Campus Center. If you cannot find a parking space in front of the Campus Center (including the circle drive area and the spaces parallel and perpendicular to Chevrolet Avenue), please return to Chevrolet Avenue and turn right. Proceed past the C.S. Mott Engineering and Science Center and turn right again; follow the road to the parking lot located behind the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center and Thompson Hall.

South

  • Exit I-75/US-23 onto Miller Road (Exit 117).
  • Turn left (East) onto Miller Road and proceed to Ballenger Highway.
  • Turn left (North) onto Ballenger Highway; continue North to Sunset Boulevard (Sixth traffic light); Sunset Boulevard is between McLaren Regional Medical Center and Mott Park Golf Course. Sunset Boulevard merges only to the right.
  • Turn right (East) onto Sunset Boulevard, which curves around and becomes University Avenue.
  • Follow University Avenue past the river to the first traffic light (Chevrolet Avenue); Kettering University’s Campus Center is on the right.
  • Turn right onto Chevrolet Avenue and right again into the circle drive in front of the Campus Center. If you cannot find a parking space in front of the Campus Center (including the circle drive area and the spaces parallel and perpendicular to Chevrolet Avenue), please return to Chevrolet Avenue and turn right. Proceed past the C.S. Mott Engineering and Science Center and turn right again; follow the road to the parking lot located behind the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center and Thompson Hall.

Leaving Kettering University to I-75/US-23

Turn left onto University Avenue (University Avenue becomes Sunset Boulevard) and go approximately 1 mile. Turn left onto Ballenger Highway go approximately 2 miles and at the 6th traffic light turn right onto Miller Road. Go approximately 1/3 mile to I-75/US-23.

The directions listed below are the permanent directions to Kettering University and will resume upon the completion of construction.

If you are *driving to Flint and approaching from:

East or West

  • Exit from I-69 onto I-75/US-23 North and follow directions below

North or South

  • Exit from I-75/US-23 onto Corunna Road (exit 118)++
  • Turn left (East) onto Corunna Road (M-21)
  • Go to the first traffic light (Ballenger Highway)
  • Turn left (North) on Ballenger. Continue North to Sunset Boulevard, the fourth traffic light. Sunset is between McLaren Regional Medical Center and the Mott Park Golf Course and goes only to the right
  • Turn right (East) onto Sunset, which becomes Third Avenue/University Avenue
  • Follow Third Avenue/University Avenue past the river to the first traffic light (Chevrolet Avenue). Kettering University Campus Center is on the right
  • Turn right on Chevrolet and park in the lot in front of the Campus Center (if this lot is full you may park in the lot located behind the Recreation Center and Thompson Hall using the Third Avenue/University Avenue entrance)

If you are flying into Flint, from Bishop Airport

  • Turn right (East) onto Bristol Road when you leave the airport
  • Enter Northbound I-75/US-23 from Bristol Road
  • Follow above directions

++If you will be staying at one of the motels located off Miller Road while you are in Flint, you might save some time by using the Miller Road exit (# 117).
