Kettering University Thesis Program. . .

a unique opportunity for all Kettering Graduates!

Our Mission . . .

To provide the Kettering student with a capstone integrative experience, combining curriculum and work experience into a significant REAL WORLD professional project for the co-op employer.

Main Objective . . .

To facilitate the Kettering students transition to professional status.

Three Major Players . . .

The thesis project is an experiential learning partnership between the student, the co-op employer, and Kettering University.

What is the Senior Thesis?

Kettering's Senior Thesis program is an opportunity for the student to use his/her learned knowledge to perform a major project for the co-op employer. The student, co-op employer advisor and a Kettering faculty advisor develop the project together. The student then will perform the project followed by writing a comprehensive report describing his/her work. Upon completion, the report which is a thesis, is evaluated by both the employer advisor and the faculty advisor.

When does a student start the Senior Thesis?

The student will be enrolled in two thesis terms during his/her final two co-op work terms. Prior to these last two work terms, the student will submit a proposed thesis assignment (PTA) with approval by the employer advisor to Kettering University Thesis Services. The PTA will then be forwarded to his/her degree department. At this time a faculty advisor will choose to work with the student and approve the topic. Upon approval of the PTA, the student will begin performing the project.
