A Graduate Assistantship provides academically-related employment for eligible graduate students. A Graduate Assistant can refer to either a Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) or a Graduate Research Assistant (RA). A weekly time commitment of 20 hours can be expected; however, actual time commitment is based on the project requirements. Benefits of the program include a stipend and tuition waiver each term.

A student pursuing a master's degree at Kettering University must choose whether or not to write a master's thesis, consistent with the requirements of the graduate program and the student's degree program. Students in the bachelor/master's program must choose whether to write a bachelor's thesis (Option 1) or only a master's thesis (Option 2) no later than earning 8 credit hours of graduate credit.
2. It is the responsibility of the student to find a faculty advisor willing to supervise work for the master's thesis.
