Frequently Asked Questions About The CAPP Degree Audit System

The following questions have been provided to assist you with troubleshooting issues related to the CAPP (Curriculum, Advising and Program Planning) Degree Audit System.  If, after reviewing these questions and answers, you need additional information, please contact your degree department or the Registrar's Office.

Who can use the CAPP degree audit?

Only undergraduate degree- seeking students who first entered Kettering University in Summer 2001 or a later term can use CAPP.   Undergraduate students admitted prior to Summer 2001 must complete the degree requirements as outlined in his/her ACC(Academic Curriculum Conversion) form.   Access for graduate degree-seeking students will be available during the spring of 2006.

What are the "general requirements" and the "additional information" screens for?

These are the screens which show the courses that were used toward your audit and courses that were excluded from your audit.  This will include co-op work terms, repeated courses and course withdrawals.  We strongly recommend that you the "detail requirements" option to view your audit.  It will provide you with the best and most comprehensive analysis of your progress toward degree completion.

Some courses on my degree audit are hyperlinked to the online catalog, and some are not.  How can I see the descriptions for all the courses in my program?

The system only hyperlinks courses that you have not yet taken and that are specifically required (i.e., not part of a list of several courses) for your program to the online catalog.  To look for other course
descriptions, go directly to the online catalog.

How does CAPP decide where to place courses that I've completed?

CAPP processes your courses chronologically, based on a "best-fit" scenario.  It will look through each of your courses in the order you've completed them, and then assigns each course to the first requirement in your degree program that the course will fulfill.

How do I request an adjustment in the degree requirements on my CAPP evaluation?

Your degree department head must approve this substitution.  Forms are available in the Registrar's Office or online.  (insert link to form).

How do I check to see if I'm eligible for a minor or concentration?

Use the "what if analysis" link at the bottom of the degree audit pages. After choosing a major program, continue through the concentration select to the minor selection area.  Enter the minor you're interested in and run an audit.  You can do the same if you're checking for another major, or thinking about changing your degree program.

What are the program and overall grade point averages that are listed on the first page of my audit?

The overall grade point average is your cumulative grade point average.  The program grade point average is the grade point average for all courses that CAPP used to complete your degree program.
Please note this grade point average is not your official WAG at the university.  Your official WAG is noted on your academic transcript.

Does the CAPP evaluation replace my final academic term audit?

No.  All coursework requirements must be verified by your degree department prior to graduation.  All students are still required to complete a final academic term form with their advisor when registering for their final academic term.  Students are responsible for complying with all academic policies and procedures as published in the Kettering University Undergraduate catalog.

What if I think my audit wrong?

Please e-mail CAPP@kettering.edu  or contact the Registrar's Office immediately.  While we have done everything we could to make sure that your audit runs correctly, it would have been impossible for us to predict every possible situation or problem.  If this occurs, you should print a copy of your audit and bring it with you to our office.
