Welcome to the Phi Eta Sigma website.

Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society inspired by the past and dedicated to the future whose goal is to encourage and reward academic excellence among freshmen in institutions of higher learning.

The oldest and largest freshman honor society, Phi Eta Sigma was founded at the University of Illinois on March 22, 1923, and now has more than three hundred chapters throughout the United States and more than 700,000 members.

In 1979, Professor Bell was responsible for bringing a chapter of Phi Eta Sigma here to Kettering.  Professor Bell has greatly influenced Phi Eta Sigma, and Kettering University, unlike few before him.  This influence can be seen through the successful careers of so many of his past students.

Over his 40 years of teaching, Professor Bell has taught generations of students, and while they are all his favorites, he has been rumored to say that Phi Eta Sigma's are among the top 1/8, of the top 1/4 percent, of all the students who have ever been through the doors of Kettering University.  Obviously, coming from Professor Bell, we are all proud to be part of such an elite group.
