REVISED CONSTITUTION

 

Operating Constitution of the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Honor Society

 

ARTICLE I THE DEFINITION OF GAMMA MU IOTA

 

Section I. The name of this organization shall be GAMMA MU IOTA MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS ENGINEERING HONOR SOCIETY.

 

Section II. The symbol shall be The Universal Man.

 

Section III. The colors of this association shall be burgundy and silver.

 

Section IV. The coat-of-arms of this organization shall be The Universal Man surrounded by lightning, hammer and anvil, and hour-glass.

 

ARTICLE II THE PURPOSE OF THE GAMMA MU IOTA MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS ENGINEERING HONOR SOCIETY

 

Section I. To encourage its members toward the promotion of GAMMA MU IOTA.

 

Section II. To award recognition to those outstanding students in the field of Manufacturing Systems Engineering.

 

Section III. To encourage the healthy interaction necessary to seek out new and innovative methods relating to Manufacturing Systems Engineering.

 

Section IV. To create a closer student-faculty relationship in the field of Systems Engineering.

 

ARTICLE III REQUIREMENTS INTO MEMBERSHIP OF GAMMA MU IOTA

 

Section I. Undergraduate candidates in the Junior or Senior Class studying Manufacturing Systems Engineering or equivalent Systems Engineering program at an ABET Accredited School may qualify for membership in GAMMA MU IOTA.

 

Section II. Juniors who have a cumulative scholastic rank in the upper quarter of their Manufacturing Systems Engineering class may be elected.

 

Section III. Seniors who have a cumulative scholastic rank in the upper third of their Manufacturing Systems Engineering class may be elected.

 

Section IV. In addition to these scholastic requirements, induction is reserved for those students demonstrating leadership, interest, and self-motivation.

 

ARTICLE IV FACULTY MEMBERSHIP AND CHAPTER ADVISOR REQUIREMENTS

 

Section I. Each chapter shall have faculty members elected by a two-thirds quorum vote of active membership.

 

Section II. Each chapter may elect from its faculty members one or several Chapter Advisors, on the condition of a two-thirds vote of its active membership.

 

Section III. Any faculty member when elected to the position of a Chapter Advisor shall be so for a minimum of 2 years with the option of stepping down as one after that.

 

ARTICLE V ELECTION OF CHAPTER OFFICERS

 

Section I. Each chapter of GAMMA MU IOTA will have four elected offices. These offices being President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Recorder. Elections will take place once a year.

 

Section II. Nominations to an office can be made by any active member and must proceed elections by at least seven days.

 

Section III. Elections to any office will be by a majority vote.

 

ARTICLE VI DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS

 

Section I. The President will preside over the chapter at all meetings. It will be the President's responsibility to maintain order and delegate responsibilities. The President may also call special meetings.

 

Section II. The Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President in his absence. Specifically, the Vice-President will oversea the smooth flow in communication within GAMMA MU IOTA.

 

Section III. The Recorder will take notes at all meetings and make these notes available to the membership. The Recorder will also oversea all correspondence with GAMMA MU IOTA.

 

Section IV. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the payment of bills and collection of sums pertaining to GAMMA MU IOTA.

 

ARTICLEVII

 

AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION

 

Section I. Amendments to the constitution will be determined by a two-thirds vote of the active membership.

 

Section II. Active members will be defined as the elected and inducted members in the current school
