| First things first, if a message window is displayed saying that there is a lock file and will not let you start Adams; you need to remove the lock. The message should indicate that it is in the .mdi folder of your home directory. To view and erase this lock, open the file manager (looks like a file drawer in the toolbar at the bottom of the desktop) and in the View menu check the "Show all files" option. You should now be able to see the .mdi folder (along with some others). Open the folder by double clicking. In the folder you will find the .lock file. Delete it. Then start Adams. Fix 1 (from helpdesk) Click on "Desktop Controls", the icon just to the right of the printer in the dashboard panel. Double click "Window Style Manager". Click "Window" to make sure you are in the window portion of style manager. The items you may want to play with are: Click In Window To Make Active (check) Raise Window When Made Active (uncheck) Allow Primary Windows On Top (uncheck) Click "Ok". (After you click "ok" a dialog box should appear saying to the effect that UNIX needs to restart Workspace, click "ok". Continue the following steps then logout and log back into UNIX and Adams Car should work. shouldn't have to be every time however, just if you change labs) This Click "Startup" in the style manager. Check the "Return to Home session" button. Click "Set Home Session ..." to save these settings. Click "Ok". Close style manager and desktop controls. Restart the window manager by right-clicking on the background, choosing "Windows" then "Restart Workspace Manager ..." and clicking "Ok". If you don't get exactly the behavior you want, you may have to play with the three indented items above until you are comfortable with it. Fix 2 (Use only if Fix 1 does not work) ADAMS car (the button bar/toolbar) should not be running when the following is being done. Go to the .mdi folder in your home dir using the terminal window (cd .mdi) 1. Delete all lock and registration file in .mdi folder (rm *.* will delete all files, do this) 2. Delete the log and %log files in the adams directory or the directory you started Adams in. (rm *.log ; rm*.%log) |
