Pre-College ProgramAcademically Interested Minorities (AIM)The Academically Interested Minorities (AIM) program is a five-week residential summer program that made its' debut in the summer of 1984 and has continued to thrive over the years. The program begins in July and ends in August. The AIM program is designed to augment Kettering University's efforts to reach a greater number of minority students who have a strong interest in math and science and qualify to attend Kettering University. Participation in this program will help minority students improve and develop the academic skills needed in an engineering, science or mathematics program of higher education. Eligibility - The students must be of African American, Hispanics, Native Americans and Asian Americans descendents and are currently juniors in high school. They must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average in high school math, science and English courses which should include two years of algebra or the equivalent preparation; one year of geometry; and one year of chemistry with lab. Students must commit to a five week residential experience. All expenses are covered by the program except in some cases, transportation. AIM provides students with a real college life experience by preparing them to make a successful transition from high school to college as well as introduction to the engineering, applied mathematics, applied science and management fields of study at the collegiate level. The participating students are enrolled in college level courses to develop functional, quantitative and qualitative skills.
