What is The Office of Multicultural Student Initiatives?

OMSI's missions is to provide leadership and supportive services as well as implement, facilitate and promote policies and procedures that positively impact the Kettering community and increase the number of underrepresented minority students (African-Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans) who graduate with engineering degrees.

Our goals are to:

  • Insure that minority students are fully prepared to successfully matriculate within the Kettering University curriculum and environment;
  • Provide academic support services for minority students that will insure their retention and graduation;
  • Increase the pool of minority students qualified to pursue math, science, management or engineering degrees by providing quality pre-college programs;
  • Work with administrators, staff and faculty to create an environment which reflects the diversity of our society;
  • Initiate and implement special activities and events geared toward creating positive self-imaging and professional development skills for minority students
