Telephone System Operation Policies

The Kettering University Telephone System is for business use only. Personal calls, other than for emergencies are unauthorized.
Long distance calls, especially international calls, which are not related to business, are unauthorized. Long distance calls that originate from any campus telephone that are of a personal nature will be billed to the originator.
Call data is recorded for every call made and received from all Kettering University extensions, including all incoming calls routed from the toll free number. This call data is monitored on a daily basis and invoices are sent accordingly.
Our system is optimized for standard telephone use and is able to provide service for normal business calls that have an average connect time of around two to three minutes; therefore we ask that modems not be used during the normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
