Web Browser Proxy Settings
All machines will have access to the internet through a proxy.
For newer versions of Firefox, do the following:
- Click [Tools] => [Options].
- Click [Advanced] tab.
- Click [Network] tab.
- Click [Settings].
- Select the [Auto-detect proxy settings for this network] radio button.
- Click [OK] twice.
For newer versions of MSIE, do the following:
- Click [Tools] => [Internet Options].
- Click on the [Connections] tab.
- Click on [LAN Settings] at the bottom right.
- Click the [Automatically detect settings] check box.
- Click [OK] twice.
If you are using an older version of Firefox or MSIE or another browser that does not support "Auto-detect Settings", you must give the following for an automatic configuration script: http://wpad.kettering.edu/wpad.dat
If you are using an older version of MSIE or another browser (such as Netscape) that does not support automatic configuration, you must give the following for the proxies: cache.kettering.edu port 3128. You must tell your browser to not use proxy for jweb.kettering.edu (Banner/student enrollment) and bbapp.kettering.edu (Blackboard).
Note For Laptop Users
When taking your laptop off campus remember to uncheck the use proxy.
