Setting up a VPN Connection in Vista
Go into the Network and Sharing Center either by going to the Control Panel or clicking on the network icon on the taskbar. 
Click on “Set up a connection or network”on the left pane. You should be presented with something that looks like this:
Make sure “Connect to a workplace” is highlighted and click on next. It should take you to this screen:

Click on “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”. The process should then take you to this screen:
Put “vpn1.kettering.edu” into the “Internet address:” box. For the “Destination Name:” box, you can put whatever you like, just make sure it is not something obscure enough that you forget what it is. “Kettering
VPN” is fine. The screen should look something like this:
Click next and it should take you to this screen:

Type in your Kettering Windows username and password in the appropriate spots. NOTE: If your Windows password is either expired or about to expire, it will not be able to successfully connect. If you cannot make it to campus to change your password on one of the lab computers, call the helpdesk at x8324.
If you want to, you may check the box to remember this password. Click on connect, and after the initial connection you should be all set. In order to connect, you may either go into the “Network and Sharing center” and click on “Connect to a Network” on the left pane, or if your start menu has the option, Start>Connect To.
