Public Relations and Communications - Policies & Procedures

Kettering News

The PR and Communications staff offers expertise on what information constitutes news-worthy content appropriate for the University, corporate partners, alumni, contributors and friends of the institution. While news changes from day to day, one can generally apply a simple definition of what is news: a report of recent events and/or previously unknown information.

Visit our News Archives.

Photography Requests

PR and Communications does not have available staffing to photograph every event sponsored by the Kettering Community. Generally, PR and Communications only takes photographs that support the Kettering News pages and our various social media resources. Individuals and departments should shoot the photos they need for purely commemorative purposes. If you feel that your photo idea would be newsworthy, some basic guidelines to follow are:

  • Your photography request will be considered in the order received and should be submitted at least 5 business days in advance to pr@kettering.edu; and
  • PR and Communications reserves the right to determine the newsworthiness of the photography request.

When providing a photograph for publication that you or your department have taken, please keep in mind the following:

  • Out of focus photos are less likely to be used;
  • People in the photo need to be identified left to right prior to publication; and
  • What may seem obvious to you may not be as obvious to others, please provide a description of what the photo is illustrating.
