Secure Password Creation

Passwords that are set to something that is convenient to remember are usually a target for scams. Be aware that if your account is compromised, your personal information is also compromised.  Please keep everyone’s security in mind when setting a password.

Example of some passwords that shouldn't be used:

  • Last Name
  • First Name
  • Drivers License Number
  • Social Security
  • Street Address
  • Name of your Employer or School
  • Words found in the dictionary (Example; "apple", "circle", "dog", etc.)

Example of a good password:

  • The first letter of each word in a phrase that is easy to recall.

Phrase Example: "Can't Wait For Summer" (password:  ICWFS)

  • Include a few special characters or numbers in the middle of your phrase to add password complexity from hackers.

Special Character Example:  ! # $ % ^ & * ( ) _+

Number Example:  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
