Freshman Rep

What activities are/were you involved in at Kettering and high school? (list academic year, as well as any positions you may have held in any organization).

In high school I was involved in:

Quizbowl freshman year, yearbook in 9-10th grade, Muslim student association 9-12th grade, FIRST robotics 10-12th grade. As of now, I am involved in the Kettering Entrepreneurship Society, Improv club, and fencing club. I also attend MAGIC.

What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I want people to think of me as a benevolent person. One of my single most significant characteristics is that I cannot do anything to help myself. I always have to angle the purpose of doing something gto help other people, even if I cannot directly observe it.

What is your favorite quote/saying(s)

“Whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” This quote is from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. It is significant to me because I grew up around different kinds of people with varying backgrounds.

What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

As a freshman, I cannot say I recognize every aspect of how Kettering University operates, but I can identify problems that Freshman students face. From problems with “Ernie’s” to challenges in chem/chem lab courses. Through ideal communication the conditions of student life could be improved.

What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

I don’t have a most significant success or failure, but what I do have is a collection of significant experiences. One significant success that I have had is with a FIRST robotics team that started up two years ago. I learned about teamwork and communication and we won the rookie all-star award. A significant failure in my robotics career includes spending six months attempting to learn a cad program instead of cutting my losses.

What is your motivation for wanting to represent student body via student Senate?

I want to establish a higher level of communication between the freshman at Kettering University and the Kettering Student Government. I would also like to establish a greater ideal of communication between students and faculty. This is because I believe that two things are vital to an individual’s success, reflecting and effective communication.
