UPS donation supports scholarships
A UPS donation will provide money for 12 scholarships and support pre-college outreach programs.
The UPS Foundation recently presented Kettering University a check for $78,000. Albert L. Wright, Corporate Engineering manager at UPS and Kettering Trustee, presented the donation which represented a final pledge payment of a five-year commitment.
The $78,000 will be dispersed in three increments:
- $60,000 for 12 academic scholarships at $5,000 each;
- $16,000 for the Academically Interested Minorities (AIM) pre-college program; and
- $2,000 for Kamp Kettering, a pre-college program for junior high school-aged girls.
Started in 1999, the UPS five-year grant to Kettering has primarily provided scholarship monies. In the 2003 academic year, 16 scholarships at $5,000 each were donated.
UPS is currently one of the top Kettering co-op employers with 51 students working at 23 sites in 11 states from Alaska to Texas to Pennsylvania.
