Kettering students gave a little time to help out the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Flint with their annual fundraiser "Spaghetti on Ice."

Kettering students proved that many hands make light work Jan. 29 at the Flint area Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) "Spaghetti on Ice" fundraiser at the Perani Arena in Flint.

The event, sponsored by the Flint General Hockey Team and UAW Region 1C drew more than 700 people and raised more than $16,500 to benefit local MDA patients and their families.

Kettering volunteers showed up at 7 a.m. to help set up the 100-plus tables and chairs, blow up balloons and get decorations ready. Working in shifts, the members of Sigma Nu, Theta Xi, Phi Delta Theta And Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternities, Real Service, a Kettering service organization, and the student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), were on hand until 7 p.m. helping to serve food, sell t-shirts, man the silent auction and clean up.
