There will be changes at Kettering University starting Monday, Feb. 23, that may affect the daily routines of smokers. The University has recently become aware of a Genesee County smoking regulation which will go into effect Feb. 23. In order to comply with this regulation, Kettering will remove all existing smoking receptacles from the immediate vicinity of campus buildings and will be placing different stand alone smoking receptacles in newly designated smoking areas. The major impact of this regulation is that beginning Feb. 23 any smoker must be at least 20 feet away from any door, window or air intake prior to lighting up on campus.

Please be advised that enforcement by the Genesee County Health Department will result in a substantial penalty. Anyone who wants to review the entire regulation can read it on the Genesee County Health Department website at http://health.co.genesee.mi.us.
