March Madness rolls into Kettering in support of a worthy cause

The Connie and Jim John Recreation Center will serve as home court for the March Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Saturday, March 9, as teams from the Kettering community come together to support McLaren Hospital's Child Evaluation Center.

The Connie and Jim John Recreation Center will serve as home court for the March Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Saturday, March 9, as teams from the Kettering community come together to support McLaren Hospital's Child Evaluation Center. Kettering's Phi Gamma Delta fraternity will host this fund-raising competition.

The tournament is designed to raise money for the Child Evaluation Center, which works in assisting abused children in the Flint area. Teams of three to four players may register by filling out appropriate forms and donating $40 per squad to the center. All registration forms are due March 4 to the Office of Student Activities and are available at Kettering's Student Activities Office, third floor of the Campus Center, and at the Kettering Recreation Center. Interested parties from the Kettering community may also download forms online at www.kettering.edu/~phigam/ballin.htm. Students, faculty and staff are welcome.

Special features of March Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament include:

  • a free throw contest March 8;
  • a faculty vs student game;
  • prize drawings;
  • special recognition of tournament winners; and
  • free food.
