Flint honors Joe Spielman

More than 500 friends, colleagues and family honored Joe Spielman '68, vice president and general manager of GM Metal Fabricating, Wednesday, April 09, 2003, at the Great Lakes Technology Center in Flint for his many years of dedicated service to the Flint community. Proceeds from this event support the IMA Children's Recreation Fund, which offers recreational and educational programs for disadvantaged children in the community.
Guy Briggs, vice president and general manager of Vehicle Manufacturing at GM, and Cal Rapson, vice president of UAW International, co-chaired this event, which featured guest speakers remarking on their work and friendship with Spielman. In addition, Kettering President James E.A. John and Kettering Chemistry Professor Reg Bell offered remarks about the important role Spielman has played in supporting Kettering throughout the years of his employment at General Motors Corp. Spielman, who is the GM key executive to Kettering University, was moved by the many humorous and touching stories people shared about their work, friendship and experience working with Spielman.
