Executives join Board of Trustees
Dell vice president and Citizens CEO join board
Major Horton '84 of Dell, Inc., and William R. Hartman of Citizens Banking Corp. are the two newest members of Kettering University's Board of Trustees.
Horton, who earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Kettering/GMI, is the vice president and general manager of the commercial group of Dell Financial Services. He manages annual originations of more than $1 billion with offices in Austin, Texas, and Bangalore, India. Prior to joining Dell in 1997, he was the business development leader and general manager of the Corporate Jets Environmental Control Systems business at Allied Signal in Tempe, Ariz.
Horton was a guest lecturer on campus and attended Alumni Reunion Weekend in May. He attended his first trustee meeting in June.
Hartman is chairman of the board, president and CEO for Citizens Banking Corp., a $7.7 billion financial services company with banks in Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. Citizens is the second largest bank holding company in Michigan, providing a full range of financial services through its 180 banking and financial center locations, and its investment and mortgage subsidiaries, title company and insurance agency. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Clarion University in Pennsylvania in 1970 and is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Hartman's offices are located in Flint. His first trustee meeting will be later this year.
