May 3, 2012

The spring open house will allow visitors to see sensors in the signal analysis lab and proton exchange membranes and lots more!

The spring open house at Kettering University on Saturday, May 19, will show how Kettering’s faculty, laboratories and programs can provide “The Kettering Advantage” for students interested in engineering, business, math, science and technology.  The event is called Discover Kettering, and it is free and open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Karen Full, Kettering’s director of Admissions, said the campus is ready to show high school and community college students and their families how to “learn more, experience more and achieve more” with Kettering’s experiential learning program.  “There is simply no substitute for experience in today’s marketplace,” she said.  “Kettering connects students to learning outside the classroom as early as their freshman year.  And Kettering has some of the best engineering facilities available to undergraduates in the world and they’ll be on display at Discover Kettering,” Full said.

“You’ll have an opportunity to discuss Kettering’s cooperative education and experiential learning format in academic areas such as chemical engineering, computer gaming and aerospace engineering.  We’ll also tell you more about Kettering becoming the first Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) university in Michigan to offer a fixed-tuition guarantee.  We have eliminated all academically related fees in our all-inclusive tuition package,” she added.

Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. in Kettering’s Campus Center.  The Academic Department Expo is from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  “All of Kettering’s Academic Departments will be featured in one setting, so families can learn about our majors, minors and academic specialties.  Representatives will also be available to talk about co-op, financial aid, Multicultural Student Initiatives, Student Life and Study Abroad,” Full said.

The Welcome and Admissions Overview begins at 10:30 a.m.  From 11:10 to 12:20 p.m., a series of panel discussions include Co-op Education and Experiential Learning, Financial Aid, FIRST Panel and “Students Speak.”  Lunch and campus tours follow.

Although Discover Kettering is an open house, registration for the program is preferred by calling (800) 955-4464, ext. 7865, or visit:  Lunch will be provided for registered guests.

“Kettering really does have the professors, the labs and the experiences to bring knowledge and practice together better than any place else,” she added.  For more on Kettering University, visit:
