Convocation is Thursday
William H. Osborne '83 will offer an address during New Student Convocation Thursday, Oct. 1, in Kettering University's Campus Center. An academic processional will welcome B-Section students to campus.
William H. Osborne ’83, president and CEO of Federal Signal Corp., will offer an address during New Student Convocation, Thursday, Oct. 1, in the International Room of the Campus Center at Kettering University. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. Kettering will welcome about 224 B-Section freshmen to campus, joining the 270 new faces in A-Section’s freshmen class.
Speakers also include President Stan Liberty, Provost Michael Harris and Student Government President Patrick Neal. Faculty and staff will process in academic regalia to welcome B-Section students to campus.
Mr. Osborne is President and Chief Executive Officer at Federal Signal Corporation, a company founded in 1901 that today is a leader in enhancing the safety, security and wellbeing of communities and workplaces. Federal Signal has headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, and manufacturing facilities located around the world. They produce more than 70 products in Safety and Security Systems, Environmental Solutions and Equipment for Fire and Rescue personnel.
Prior to joining Federal Signal in September 2008, Mr. Osborne served in a number of senior-level positions with the Ford Motor Company. His management experiences included CEO of Ford of Australia, and President and CEO of Ford of Canada.
Early in his career, he held various roles in Product Design, Development and Engineering for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors.
His educational credentials include an MBA degree from The University of Chicago; an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wayne State University; and the Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering that he earned on this campus.
