Siemens Dematic Rapistan received the "Michigan Co-op Employer of the Year" award during a reception and open house Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Grand Rapids. The award, which is sponsored by the Michigan Council for Cooperative Education, was won based on a nomination submitted by Kettering Corporate Manager Carmon Liversedge. "We are so pleased our nomination led to this deserving recognition for Siemens Dematic Rapistan," said Bob Nichols, vice president for Enrollment Management. "Siemens Dematic Rapistan employs around 30 of our co-op students in Grand Rapids, many of them from West Michigan. It is an important partnership that complements the future needs of West Michigan businesses and the development of tomorrow's business leaders," he said.

The event was at the Red Schoolhouse, 507 Plymouth Ave., Grand Rapids. It began at 6 p.m. for alumni of Kettering/GMI, who heard an update on recent changes and construction on campus. Around 100 prospective students and their families then joined the alumni, Kettering co-op students and company representatives to learn more about scholarship and co-op opportunities in West Michigan. Co-op students at Siemens Dematic Rapistan spoke about ways their co-op jobs are helping them work their way through college. Armen Oumedian '49 of Grand Rapids organized the event and served as host.
