"Classics on the Beach," a classic car show and competition to highlight Kettering's annual Alumni Reunion Weekend, is set for Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, which is sponsored by the Kettering University Firebirds Car Club, A+ Graphics of Flint and Kettering's Alumni Association, offers free registration for participants and chances to win trophies in seven classes.
The goal of this year's show is to bring 50 to 100 classic cars to the campus from around the Genesse County area, said Joe Kahn, president of the Firebirds Car Club and a senior at Kettering University. The show provides car restoration experts and buffs a free opportunity to show off their classic automobiles and win prizes for their hard work.
"It's rare that classic car shows like this offer participants free registration," he said. "More importantly, we're offering trophies for the best cars and we're excited to see what kind of a crowd we'll draw."
All car enthusiasts, makes and models are welcome.
Event organizers will offer trophies for the best cars in the following classes:
Modified Street Rod/Custom;
and Best of the Show.
